Three tricks to solve the fault of industrial control integrated machine (Part 2) - Touch screen fault analysis
Sep 17, 2024
Three axes: resources, logic, and environment
The human-computer interaction of the industrial control integrated machine mainly relies on the touch screen. For users, the industrial control integrated machine is the touch screen in addition to the motherboard.
In fact, the touch screen that users understand is composed of two parts: the LCD screen and the touch screen. The fault phenomena are completely different. In view of the general cognition that the two are integrated, we put the faults of the two accessories together.
Fault 1: No response to the touch screen
Resources: First, determine whether the appearance of the touch screen is damaged. If damaged, replace the touch screen directly.
Second, whether the surface of the touch screen is clean, you can wipe the screen with a soft cloth. Dust containing metal components will affect the operation of the touch screen;
Third, the connector may be more likely to cause abnormal touch screens. The touch screen generally uses a USB or IIC interface. Both interfaces generally use a 4-pin pin seat, and some motherboards use an FPC seat. No matter which seat, there is a possibility of poor contact after long-term use.
Therefore, Lianzhitongda's industrial control integrated machine generally applies red glue according to the seat to prevent the connector from loosening, but some users may disassemble the machine for repair, or a long-term vibration environment may also cause the connector to loosen.
For the failure of touch screen unresponsiveness, after eliminating the previous basic judgment, it is necessary to check whether the connection cable is in good contact. Generally, the effect can be seen by re-inserting and restarting the device. If it is confirmed that it is a connector problem, you can unplug the plug, clean the dust in the socket, etc., and re-plug it. If conditions permit, you can replace the connection cable.
If the touch failure still cannot be handled properly, you need to consider replacing the touch screen for testing. If conditions permit, replacing parts for testing is also a common treatment method.
Logic: There is generally no logic problem when the touch screen is unresponsive. The touch screen is actually equivalent to a computer keyboard, and the response level in the system is very high. To determine whether the touch screen response level is insufficient in the system, restart the industrial control all-in-one machine to see if the touch screen can be operated, or you can connect an external USB keyboard to check the system resource usage. If the system resource usage is not high, it is impossible for the touch screen not to respond.
If the system resource usage is within a reasonable range, check the device manager, you can unplug the touch screen cable to see the changes in the plug-and-play device of the resource manager, and pay attention to whether the USB-related devices are in an abnormal state. If there is an abnormal state, recheck the touch screen cable.
Environment: The environment has a certain impact on the touch screen, of which there are two main situations:
1. The humidity is too high, and there is water mist on the surface of the touch screen, which will affect the accuracy of the operation, but it will not be completely unresponsive;
2. Long-term use in an environment with high humidity and large dust (mainly dust below PM10) will cause a "false short circuit" phenomenon at the interface. The so-called "false short circuit" phenomenon is that there is a state of seemingly connected or not connected between the USB or IIC signal lines (mainly plugs), which is generally caused by humid air;
It is generally recommended that even if the industrial control all-in-one computer itself is an industrial product built for an industrial environment, the impact of the environment on the industrial control all-in-one computer should be considered during use. Generally, the industrial control all-in-one computer can withstand a 90%RH humidity environment, but if it is used at a humidity of about 90%RH for a long time, the possibility of failure increases, thereby increasing the probability of after-sales maintenance.
Fault 2: The touch screen is normal on other machines, but not on this machine
Resources: From the phenomenon, the most likely possibility is a physical problem with the interface, which can be re-inserted or replaced.
Logic: Generally, touch screens using USB interfaces are driver-free. If this happens, you can reinstall the driver; for IIC interfaces, general application software will have a special program to handle it, which can also be understood as a driver program, and you can reinstall it.
Environment: This problem occurs in the same environment, which is generally unrelated to the environment.
Fault 3: The touch screen operation is not accurate, often accompanied by misoperation
Resources: It can be operated, but not accurate. It is generally caused by water mist or dust containing metal components on the surface of the touch screen. Just wipe it clean with a soft cloth.
Logic: This phenomenon is not a logic problem.
Environment: Try to keep a dry environment, or try to avoid an environment with water mist. You can take certain shielding measures. Lianzhitongda Industrial Control All-in-One Computer is designed for industrial environments. It is generally not so fragile and can be used normally in an environment with a humidity not higher than 90%RH.
Another possibility is that the machine has been disassembled, and the connection line of the touch screen is not placed according to the original layout, resulting in interference with the data line. The data line of the touch screen is particularly sensitive. If the machine has been disassembled, the data line must be placed according to the original position layout. If there is a shielding tape, it also needs to be pasted in the original way.
Fault 4: Abnormal screen display or no display
Resource: There are many abnormal display phenomena. What we generally call abnormal display refers to abnormal display screen or sudden failure to display when the machine is turned on.
The LCD screen of the industrial control all-in-one machine generally uses LVDS and EDP interfaces, which are data interfaces. Generally, interface failure will only cause no display, and there is no display part, etc. Therefore, unplugging and plugging the data line plug is a common inspection method.
If there is a situation where part of the image is displayed, it is usually because the LCD screen resolution does not match the motherboard. Generally, the motherboard can select the resolution. It may be that the jumper cap has poor contact. You can replace the jumper cap for testing. Please consult the supplier for the specific location of the jumper cap.
If the poor contact of the data cable connector is excluded, the screen needs to be replaced for comparison testing.
Logic: The sudden abnormal screen display is not caused by logical reasons.
Environment: Working in a high temperature environment for a long time may cause the LCD screen to age faster. You can judge whether it is affected by high temperature based on the actual use time.
Fault 5: The screen is getting darker
Resource: The service life of the LCD screen is generally more than 50,000 hours, which is about five years. If your device has only been used for one or two years and the screen becomes dark, you should consider whether you have bought a second-hand industrial control integrated machine.
Logic: There is no logic problem.
Environment: The darkening of the screen has little to do with the environment.
Fault 6: Part of the screen is burned
Resource: Many people understand that the screen is burned out as the screen cannot be used. In fact, the screen is burned out gradually. The direct phenomenon is that the content of the software interface can be seen when the industrial control integrated machine is just powered on and the software is not started.
This phenomenon is actually caused by displaying the same content for a long time. Therefore, it is generally recommended that when using an industrial control integrated machine, the software should have certain screen protection measures, similar to the screen saver of a computer, to avoid the screen displaying the same content all the time and causing the highlighted area to be burned out.
The longer the screen is used, the more likely this problem will occur. When purchasing an industrial control all-in-one computer, you should not only look at the price. When buying a second-hand screen, this problem may occur earlier.
Logic: There is no logic problem.
Environment: It has little to do with the environment.
